about me
I started this blog because on my personal sites I had three different blogs. I decided I was tired of trying to keep them separate, since each is a part of me. So now you get all my insane ramblings in one place :)
Disclaimer and fair warning...I'm not a writer so read at your own risk of complete boredom and lots of grammatical errors!!
First and foremost I'm a child of Christ, then I define myself as a wife and mom. Between my husband and I we have 7 wonderful and diverse children. We came together with his four and my two and then we were blessed with a beautiful little girl. She's now six years old. I met my helpmate 8 years ago, just three months after I accepted Jesus into my life. We were inseparable from our first "date" of moving a couch to his house. "Baby It's Cold Outside" will forever be connected to that night. We married 6 years ago and it's been a blessed journey of God stretching both of us and molding us together into a team.
During this season of my life I am involved in church activities both as a participant and as a leader, I work part-time at a crisis pregnancy center, lead abortion recovery bible studies and I am in charge of publicity for our local MOPS charter **UPDATE: I no longer work, I'm not currently leading abortion recovery and the season of MOPS in my life is coming to an end this spring. I will be concentrating all my energies into my home and family for awhile*** In my personal life, I've begun homeschooling my five year old and my 14year old. Fall is especially busy for me because I love to cook and bake. There are a variety of baked goods that I enjoy making, eating and canning this time of year. I also love to cook and get great pleasure from fellowship with my family over a meal. I also get immense joy from running. This summer has pushed running to the back burner but I desire to make it a priority again in my life. I get very political, especially concerning social issues. However, I'm fed up with both parties and pretty much all politicians. I believe until the Christians in this country take a firm stance, our morality will continue to degrade in this country.
A few years ago I learned to make homemade soap, both bars and liquid. I also make my own toiletries. It's exceptionally freeing to know that I don't have to buy certain things anymore. I'm learning more each day on the processes and what ingredients make a great bar of soap. My long term goal is to open my own business.
I've been a Christian since August of 2004 (God cleaned a lot of junk out of my life that summer/fall) but it wasn't until the summer of 2008 that I truly allowed God to become Lord of my life and totally submitted all my control to Him. It's a daily decision to let go of me, but it's worth the mountains and the valleys.
As a butterfly emerges from it's cocoon, so shall I...
