Broken Lives

Two months ago my husband and I prayed about a new life coming into this world. We knew the mother of our grandson had had issues in the past with caring for her kids.  We did not want to see our grandson end up in the system so we prayed and opened ourselves to be available to whatever God put before us. Two days later we received a call from CPS, requesting us to take him home with us when he's discharged.

It's been two months, since we brought this precious baby home from the hospital. After many sleepless nights, feedings, cuddling, lots of precious smiles and a few first coos, we have found out the devastating news that he is not our biological grandson.

I write this news with my heart breaking. This little boy has stolen my heart as I've poured every waking moment into loving and caring for him.

I ask for prayers for our son as he processes through this news. I pray that God blesses his father's heart with many children to love.

But my heart breaks even more now for this precious fatherless child. I ask for prayers of God's protection for him, that whatever the "system" does is in his best interest, that his physical being and his heart is protected and most of all that God's will for him be done.

Thank you to a dear friend for reminding me of God's word....

Isaiah 41:10-13

Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
“Behold, all those who were incensed against you
Shall be ashamed and disgraced;
They shall be as nothing,
And those who strive with you shall perish.
You shall seek them and not find them—
Those who contended with you.
Those who war against you
Shall be as nothing,
As a nonexistent thing.

For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand,

Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’

  2. I pray that God's will is to leave him in your arms, and bless him with the parents of you and Randy. No child should be stuck with a parent who can not provide love, and safety, and security. I am so sorry for the hurt this is causing all of you. I try not to cry about his fate, as I feel so secure about God leaving him with you. I pray I am right in my feelings. It is a very strong feeling of a comforting hand on my shoulder and total peace about it in my mind and heart.

    1. There are many variables but I am clinging to my trust in God that He will do what is best for the precious little guy. He's such a blessing and joy to have in our home and I do hope that however long he's with us, we can have a lifelong effect on his life. I love you my crazy cat lady :)

  3. Oh Kirsten, I'm pray with the Crazy Cat Lady, that God will go before you and you and Randy will find favor in the eyes of the powers that be in the 'system'. God is the God of the system too. Your post does not indicate if the baby is still in your care, but if he is, love him for as long as he is. You're a GREAT mom!!
